I come from the East Coast of New Zealand. Since before I can remember, creative design has played an important role in my life. This tile project was one special to my friends and I at school, we have fond memories of finding our artwork and showing our families. Playing at my grandmothers side while she wove Harakeke (Flax) and created forms and identities from her natural surroundings at Lake Rotoiti. My mother (Pirihira Hall) has always encouraged my sister and I to be creative and provided the platform for us to do so. Through the art of weaving and creating we formed a true appreciation for our natural environment and the charm of living with colour, texture and pattern.
After studying Interior Architecture at Victoria University, travelling the world, working on many incredible interior and architectural projects. Based in Brisbane - Australia and then on to Mayfair - London, learning from some of the best. iDWorkshop was created (my own Interior Architecture Studio). I am proud to come from this special place we call home and to contribute to this amazing community.
Sincerely,
Pamela Matekino Hall
