Pakiwaitara is the first of many projects proudly presented by the 2020 Te Tairāwhiti Arts Festival.
Last year, we kicked off with three weeks of world class performing arts. In 2020, we’re excited about the role the arts, and our festival, will play in reconnecting our community as we emerge from the isolation of lockdown - connecting local artists with audiences, providing platforms for stories that need to be told, creating spaces that uplift our community, and curating moments packed with positivity and joy.
Our priority, this year, is to develop a programme everyone can get involved in, that extends the time you spend with the arts, digs deeper into our local korero, and that celebrates the rich imaginations of our people.
We’re still confirming our programme. But there’s a couple of ways you can keep in touch:

If you’ve got a tile.... claim it, share a little of yourself – through pictures, dance, written material, poetry, video or korero - and help us build a new digital wall that weaves all of our experiences, art, ideas and viewpoints into one varied and glorious expression of our generation as we are now.
We’ve done it before – what's your story?
